DAY 1
Journey from your home station to Harrogate and, on arrival, we will make our way to the Old Swan Hotel, our hotel for the next four nights. We enjoy free time to explore our new surroundings before meeting for our first evening meal together.
DDAY 2
After breakfast this morning, we travel by rail to York and embark on a fascinating guided walking tour of the city after which there will be free time to explore this vibrant city further. You can stroll through the medieval cobbled lanes in the iconic Shambles, visit the magnificent York Minster, indulge at Betty's Tearoom, shop at one of the many unique independent shops, or walk the ancient Roman city walls before we retrace our steps to Harrogate in time for our evening meal.
B, DDAY 3
Today, we will transfer by coach to Pickering where we board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a stunningly diverse journey in heritage carriages to the coast. Steaming across heather moorland landscapes, we pass by Goathland Station which featured as Aidensfield in Heartbeat, before descending to Whitby, a picturesque fishing port framed by its famous abbey. Stroll the quirky, narrow streets in search of Whitby Jet, climb the steps to reach the abbey, or simply enjoy some of the finest fish and chips in Yorkshire before we make the return journey.
B, DDAY 4
This morning, we travel by coach to Harewood House, one of the Treasure Houses of England, where we can see all the attractions including exhibitions of contemporary art, astounding collections of paintings, furniture, and ceramics plus over 100 acres of exquisite gardens to explore. Following our fascinating visit, we return to Harrogate for an afternoon at leisure before we reconvene at the hotel for our final evening meal together.
B, DDAY 5
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Harrogate and make our way to the station for our homeward journeys.
