DAY 1
Travelling by Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris, then onwards to Wilderswil and our hotel for six nights, the Hotel Baeren, where we check in and enjoy our first evening meal together.
DDAY 2
After breakfast this morning, we board the charming cogwheel railway up to Schynige Platte through impressive forests and alpine pastures, with fantastic views of Lakes Thun and Brienz. This heritage railway, established in 1893, offers a nostalgic experience of a bygone era and we are treated to beautiful views of the triple peaks: the Mönch, Eiger, and Jungfrau. We also have time to explore the distinctive botanical alpine garden before retracing our steps to Wilderswil for an evening at leisure.
BDAY 3
Today, we take the train to Wengen for a scenic cable car journey to Männlichen where we will enjoy free time to soak in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, explore famous trails, or relax in the panoramic restaurant. Afterwards, we will descend on the gondola to Grindelwald and return to Wilderswil in time for our evening meal together at the hotel.
B, DDAY 4
This morning, we embark on a scenic rail journey to Jungfraujoch - the "Top of Europe" - arriving at Europe's highest railway station at an impressive altitude of 3,454m. Here, we experience magnificent panoramas of the majestic Swiss Alps and the jagged peak of Europe's longest glacier, and we can explore the enchanting Ice Palace or indulge in one of the restaurants. Afterwards, we descend aboard the state-of-the-art Eiger Express returning to Wilderswil in time for our evening meal together.
B, DDAY 5
After breakfast this morning, we join the morning train to Thun, one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland, where we enjoy time to explore the city, visit the historic Thun Castle, stroll through the charming old town, or take a boat trip across the deep, blue waters of Lake Thun. This afternoon, we enjoy a leisurely steamboat cruise to Interlaken West with wonderful views showcasing the stunning contrast between the blue waters, vibrant green meadows, and white snow-capped mountains. This evening, we take the funicular up to the Harder Kulm whose peak boasts magnificent views of lakes and mountains, and we enjoy a delightful sunset dinner in the Panorama Restaurant.
B, DDAY 6
This morning, we journey by rail to Interlaken for a scenic cruise across the stunning turquoise waters of Lake Brienz to the picturesque town of Brienz for our steam journey on the Brienz Rothorn Railway, an historic steam cog railway that has climbed Rothorn Kulm (2,244m) since 1892 at incredible gradients. We experience a unique journey on the "Steam Sausage Train" riding behind an historic locomotive with sausages cooking in the boiler. During our stopover at Planalp, the driver and fireman will serve us the freshly prepared sausages before continuing up the mountain to Kulm for spectacular views. The remainder of our day is at leisure before returning to the hotel in time for our final evening meal together.
B, DDay 7
We bid farewell to Wilderswil and to Switzerland, returning by rail to Paris, where we will join the Eurostar service to London St Pancras.
