DAY 1

Travelling by Eurostar from London St Pancras to Brussels, then onwards to Braunschweig for our overnight stay at the InterCity Hotel where we check in and enjoy our first evening meal together.

D

DAY 2

After breakfast this morning, we enjoy an exclusive charter in Braunschweig in a vintage 1897-built tram, one of the first trams in Braunschweig, with its classic wooden interior providing a nostalgic journey. Afterwards, we continue by rail to Berlin and make our way to the InterCity Hotel Ostbahnhof, our hotel for seven nights, where we check in and enjoy an evening at leisure to explore our new surroundings.

B

DAY 3

Today, we enjoy a full day at leisure, and you may wish to spend the day riding Berlin's extensive tram network with your included transport pass. The Berlin Tram Network is one of the oldest and largest in the world featuring 22 lines, covering almost 190km, and with nearly 800 stops throughout the city, you will have plenty of opportunities to ride this marvellous system!

B

DAY 4

This morning, we travel by rail to Frankfurt (Oder) for our first vintage tram charter of the day journeying over part of the five-line, metre-gauge system before continuing to Cottbus by train. Here, we have our second private charter of the day travelling through the streets of Cottbus aboard a beautifully restored classic tram ahead of our evening meal at a local restaurant.

B, D

DAY 5

After breakfast, we journey by rail to Magdeburg where we have requested a tour of the fantastic tram depot housing its vast collection of vintage trams before enjoying a ride on one of these historic vehicles over part of the system. This afternoon, we enjoy ample time to ride and explore Magdeburg on this 10-route network before returning to Berlin for an evening at leisure.

B

DAY 6

Today, we visit two of the more unusual rural tramways on the outskirts of Berlin beginning with a journey to Friedrichshagen for the 14km long Schöneiche Line running through areas rich in forest and water including the Berlin city forest and the 'forest garden city' of Schöneiche to Rüdersdorf. We then continue to nearby Rahnsdorf for an exclusive journey aboard a 1950's Gotha tram travelling along the 5km line through forest scenery to the village of Woltersdorf.

B

DAY 7

This morning, we make our way to Potsdam for an historic tram charter, travelling over part of its 29km network in a vintage 1907-built tram ahead of an afternoon at leisure in Brandenburg where we can explore the fascinating tramways, initially opening as a horsecar system and later converted to an electrically powered system.

B

DAY 8

After breakfast this morning, we visit the third of our rural tramways, the Strausberg Line, where we enjoy a vintage charter along the 6km route to the Straussee Ferry. This unique ferry is electrically operated from an overhead supply, the only operation of this type in Europe, and we will experience the journey across the Straussee Lake. After our ferry trip, we continue to the Buckower Kleinbahn, a preserved narrow-gauge railway, enjoying a ride along its 5km line in one of the vintage electric railcars before returning to Berlin for our final evening at leisure.

B

DAY 9

We bid farewell to Berlin and to Germany, returning by rail to Brussels, where we will join the Eurostar service to London St Pancras.
