DAY 1
Travelling by Eurostar from London St Pancras to Brussels, then onwards to Nuremberg and our hotel for three nights, the InterCity Hotel, where we check in and enjoy our first evening at leisure to explore our new surroundings.
DAY 2
After breakfast this morning, we embark on a fantastic mainline steam journey from Nuremberg to the German Steam Locomotive Museum in Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg for the Class 01 Pacific Steam Event celebrating 100 years of this impressive series. We enjoy a full day at this major event including unlimited rides behind two steam locomotives 01 066 and 01 180 up the famous 'Schiefe Ebene', a challenging 1:40 incline and engineering marvel, with the possibility of a parallel run alongside a class 52-7409. (Awaiting confirmation) Plus entry to the fascinating museum and historical roundhouse. We complete our day with a return steam-hauled mainline journey back to Nuremberg.
BDAY 3
Today, we make our way to the idyllic town of Ebermannstadt for our steam-hauled journey on the Frankische Schweiz Railway through the beautiful, unique landscape of the Wiesenttal to Behringersmuhle. This afternoon, we retrace our steps and visit the DB Museum in Nuremberg, the oldest railway museum in Germany with the largest collection of historic trains, where we enjoy a guided tour through two centuries of railroad history including legendary vehicles and interactive exhibitions.
BDAY 4
We bid farewell to Nuremberg and to Germany, returning by rail to Brussels, where we will join the Eurostar service to London St Pancras.
